Description

Piko 52946 H0-diesel locomotive BR 132 Retro DR-Design, DBAG, Ep.VI , AC Sound, AC current Product Details

About the originalAs the electrification of the East German rail network came to a halt in the 1950s, mainly due to a lack of power station capacity in the north, the Council of Ministers decided in 1966 that the traction change in the GDR should be achieved primarily with diesel locomotives. The 130 and 131 series were developed and were not entirely convincing. From 1974, the 132 series was put into service, which differed from the 130 series by having a 200 mm longer body, an additional engine room window between driver's cab 1 and the row of windows in the middle of the vehicle and an assembly hatch closed with a coarse-mesh grille. This class 132 was such a great success that the GDR ordered 709 units from the Voroshilovgrad locomotive factory (now Luhansk, Ukraine). Locomotives of the class 132 were used to haul passenger trains from regional traffic to high-quality express trains, but also for heavy freight traffic.

About the model: This model from Piko depicts a 132, which is now owned by DB AG, with a historic paint scheme from the DR era. The model is characterized by a very precise reproduction of the historical paintwork and by various filigree components, which make the model a visual highlight. The model's motor impresses with its high tractive power and excellent running characteristics. The Plux22 interface is equipped with a sound decoder, which makes a variety of light and sound functions digitally controllable. It also has the "fits mfx®" quality mark, which was developed by various manufacturers in cooperation with Märklin to distinguish models that can make full use of the many mfx functions of modern Märklin digital control centers.
