The BR 111 has been in service throughout Germany since the mid-1970s. Over the course of the past decades, its area of operation has ranged from long-distance passenger services to its use as a suburban train in the Rhine-Ruhr area to its current main activity in local and regional transport. Similar to its tasks, the appearance of the four-axle electric locomotive has also changed over time. Since the end of the 1990s, it has predominantly been seen in the traffic red livery, which is also reproduced in the model.

The faithful replica on a scale of 1:87 impresses with the attached grab irons, the filigree windshield wipers and pantographs as well as the interior of the locomotive with many lovingly designed details. The fine paintwork in combination with the detailed graffiti give this locomotive its special charm and make it a real eye-catcher. Other interesting details are the digitally switchable train destination indicators, lighting in the driver's cab and engine room as well as a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel.

For even more proximity to the original, this version of the BR 111 is available with characteristic sound and is equipped with a decoder ex works; the AC version also has mfx capability.
