PIKO 96359 H0 Electric locomotive EU07, PKP, Ep. V, DC sound
With the progressive electrification of its rail network in the 1950s, the Polish State Railways (PKP) began to systematically procure powerful electric locomotives. Starting with the EU06, which was manufactured under license, the EU07 series was developed in the early 1960s - a universally deployable electric locomotive whose design was based on British models. It became the most successful four-axle electric locomotive family in the PKP fleet and continues to shape the image of electric train operation in Poland to this day.
Proven technology with a characteristic appearance
The EU07 is designed for universal use in both passenger and freight train services. Its robust construction, combined with solid technology and ease of maintenance, has made it the backbone of electric rail transport in Poland for decades. This versatility is also reflected in the model: The EU07 of Era V appears here in the typical PKP design and impresses with its authentic color scheme and finely detailed design.
Technical equipment with digital sound and lighting
The PIKO 96359 is equipped with a factory-installed PluX22 sound decoder that reproduces true-to-original operating sounds such as starting, braking and switching operations. The cab lighting can be switched digitally and - together with the light change in white/red depending on the direction of travel - ensures realistic operational representations on the layout. Two finely crafted metal scissor pantographs complete the roof section and also enable overhead line operation with the appropriate layout.
Fine detailing for the highest demands
Numerous separately applied components and faithfully reproduced buffer beams underline the high level of detail of the model. The locomotive has a digital interface in accordance with NEM 658 (PluX22), two traction tires for high tractive power and a close coupler link with NEM shaft for reliable connections in the train set. The minimum radius of 358 mm also allows use on more compact H0 layouts.
Ideal for Era V layouts with Polish operation
The PIKO 96359 is an excellent choice for model railroaders aged 14 and over who want to depict the typical Polish railroad landscape of Era V on their layouts. The combination of high attention to detail, digital equipment and solid technology makes this model a real highlight in the fleet - whether in use in front of intercity trains, regional connections or freight trains.
