Piko 96395 H0 E-Lok ET41, PKP-Cargo, Ep. VI Product Details
PIKO 96395 H0 Electric locomotive ET41, PKP-Cargo, Ep. VI
Between 1977 and 1980, the Cegielski factory in Poznań built a total of 200 units of the powerful double locomotive ET41 for the Polish State Railways (PKP). The design was based on the single-coupled EU07, but was further developed into a fixed-coupled double locomotive for heavy freight services. Instead of the driver's cabs at the inner ends of the two locomotive halves, ballast was installed to increase the frictional mass and thus the tractive power. At the same time, the frame was simplified and reinforced to meet the special requirements of heavy freight traffic.
Tried and tested in daily mountain service
The ET41 has proven itself particularly well in demanding line operation in southern Poland. It continues to provide reliable service in heavy goods traffic there to this day. Thanks to its high performance and robustness, it is one of the most important locomotive series in the PKP-Cargo fleet. The four scissor pantographs enable reliable overhead line operation and emphasize the impressive appearance of this locomotive type.
Shape variant with a high level of detail and digital preparation
The PIKO 96395 reproduces the ET41 as a shape-variant model with high prototypical fidelity. The four finely detailed metal scissor pantographs, the solid frame construction and the typical details of the double locomotive design are characteristic. The cab lighting can be switched digitally - after installing a corresponding PluX22 decoder. The locomotive is prepared for the installation of the PIKO sound decoder #56552 for optional sound equipment.
Powerful technology for direct current operation
With a length over buffers of 183 mm, the model is suitable for medium-sized and larger layouts. Two traction tires ensure safe traction even in demanding operation. The direction of travel-dependent light change in white/red brings additional operating realism to the layout. Thanks to the close coupler link and NEM shaft, the locomotive can be easily integrated into freight trains. Operation on overhead line systems is technically possible and planned.
For modern PKP Cargo freight trains of Era VI
The PIKO 96395 is aimed at model railroaders aged 14 and over who are looking for a powerful and prototypical double locomotive for their Era VI operation. As a prime example of modern Polish freight train traffic, the ET41 is a real eye-catcher - both on the layout and in the display case.
