With the PIKO 96532, PIKO is bringing the French Z 9600 electric multiple unit to the layout as a highly detailed H0 model. The class was built from 1984 for use in SNCF regional passenger services and belongs to the well-known Z2 family. It is characterized by high operational reliability and a comfortable interior - a modern solution for local transport on electrified lines in Era IV.

Prototypical implementation with a harmonious look

The model realistically reproduces the characteristic division of the train into two sections. The harmonious SNCF paintwork and the finely printed operating inscriptions convey an authentic appearance. The generously designed window areas provide a clear view into the passenger compartment, which further emphasizes the high-quality impression. Two metal single-arm pantographs adorn the roof and give the multiple unit its typical appearance.

Technically mature and digitally expandable

The multiple unit is equipped with a digital interface in accordance with NEM 658 (PluX22) and is therefore prepared for digital model railroad operation. Retrofitting a sound decoder is possible without any problems - PIKO recommends item #56565 for this. With a length over buffers of 576 mm, the model is suitable for larger DC systems. The minimum radius is 358 mm, which ensures smooth operation even on narrow tracks.

Whether as a stand-alone unit or as part of a complete SNCF operating layout - the Z 9600 can be integrated perfectly into various operating scenarios. Thanks to the NEM shaft with close coupler link, it can also be connected to other vehicles reliably and operationally. Two traction tires also ensure good tractive force during operation.
