The Piko 97834 diesel locomotive D&RGW 4003 is a faithful reproduction of the legendary KM 4000 locomotive, here in the modified version of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. The DC model represents the condition of the locomotive in the mid-1960s and takes into account all the striking structural and color differences that have developed over the years of use.

Modified in detail and precisely reproduced in color

Like its sister locomotives, the D&RGW 4003 was also provided with individual modifications, which PIKO has fully implemented in the model: Side air intake grilles, filter boxes, roof vents and the exposed exhaust system with flap valves are realistically reproduced. The paintwork is also based exactly on the special features of this machine and gives the model an unmistakable look.

The powerful engine with two balanced flywheels ensures powerful yet smooth driving characteristics. The modern LED lighting technology with direction of travel-dependent light change in white/red brings additional realism to your layout.

Digitally prepared - flexible use

The locomotive is equipped with an NEM 658 PluX22 digital interface and can be easily retrofitted with a sound decoder. This makes it ideal for both analog and digital model railroaders. Please note: This model does not have an NEM coupling shaft, which corresponds to the prototypical design.
