The Piko 97835 D&RGW 4003 diesel locomotive is an impressively detailed replica of the American KM 4000 diesel locomotives in the modified version of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. This DC model with factory-installed sound decoder reflects the condition of the locomotive in the mid-1960s - including all technical and visual features.

Modified design with fine details

Originally designed as almost identical triplets, the SP KM 4000 locomotives became increasingly individual in operation. PIKO has implemented the specific conversions of the D&RGW 4003 excellently. Features such as side air intake grilles, filter boxes, roof vents and the characteristic exposed exhaust system with flap valves have been precisely reproduced. The paintwork is also based exactly on the historical model.

The powerful engine, combined with balanced flywheels, ensures smooth running and impressive pulling power. The direction-dependent LED lighting in white/red can be switched digitally and lends the model additional authenticity.
