Remove the locomotive from the track before loosening a pickup shoe, contact plate or cable. An incorrect connection between pickup shoe, wheelsets and vehicle electronics can create a short circuit. If electrical connections have been changed, check insulation and cable routing particularly carefully before the first powered test.
