In response to rising demand in freight transport, DB Cargo has also ordered Vectron locomotives. In 2018, DB Cargo took delivery of a total of 60 locomotives - with the country packages Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands. Since the 2018/2019 timetable change, DB Cargo trains have been running continuously without locomotive changes for the first time - for example from Rotterdam to Verona. Since 2020, these have also received the Belgium country package.
