Roco 7100008 H0 Steam locomotive 95 0045-5, DR, Ep. IV: The mountain queen in all her glory

The Roco 7100008 H0 steam locomotive 95 0045-5 is an impressive replica of the legendary "Bergkönigin", one of the most powerful tank locomotives ever procured by the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft. This edition model shows the locomotive in its operating condition of Era IV (1965-1990), equipped with an old boiler, the finest details and precise workmanship.

The prototype of the Roco 7100008: The mountain queen

The class 95 was developed as the most powerful tender locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft to master steep routes such as the Spessart ramp, the inclined plane and the Frankenwaldbahn. Due to its outstanding performance, it was nicknamed the "Mountain Queen". A total of 45 of these impressive machines were built.

After the Second World War, 31 locomotives were transferred to the Deutsche Reichsbahn. In the 1950s, many locomotives were modernized to meet the requirements of the DR. From 1966, some machines were converted to oil main firing. The 95 0045-5 was housed in the Probstzella depot of the Erfurt Reichsbahn Directorate and was last used on the Eisfeld-Sonneberg line. The last machines were taken out of service in 1981.
