Roco 7100014 H0 Steam locomotive 89 7296 of the DB: A historic branch line locomotive of epoch III
The Roco 7100014 H0 steam loc omotive 89 7296 of the German Federal Railroad (DB) is a detailed replica of the legendary class T3 tank locomotive. With its compact design and precise implementation, this locomotive is perfect for use on branch lines. It combines historical authenticity with modern model technology and is an excellent choice for model railroaders of Era III.
The prototype: The T3 tank locomotive
Between 1882 and 1910, around 1,550 class T3 tank locomotives were built for the Prussian State Railroad (K.P.E.V.) and other state railroads. With their Cn2 design, a friction load of 36 tons and an output of 300 HPi, these locomotives reached a top speed of 40 km/h. The T3 was a versatile locomotive that was mainly used on branch lines and in shunting services.
Around 70 of these robust machines remained with the Deutsche Bundesbahn after the Second World War. They were used until the early 1960s before they were finally taken out of service. The 89 7296 represents one of the last active locomotives of this series.
The railroad company: Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB)
The Deutsche Bundesbahn was the successor to the Deutsche Reichsbahn in West Germany and played a central role in the reconstruction of rail transport after the Second World War. In Era III (1945-1970), DB modernized its rolling stock, but continued to rely on proven steam locomotives such as the T3, especially for use on branch lines.
Era III: The post-war railroad era
Era III is characterized by the post-war period, when steam locomotives continued to form the backbone of rail transport. In addition to the gradual introduction of modern diesel and electric locomotives, older machines such as the T3 were used for specific tasks. Models from this era are ideal for depicting this transformative period of railroading.
Color scheme and design
The Roco 7100014 is painted in the typical livery of the German Federal Railroad and has authentic lettering. The finely detailed die-cast metal chassis, the LED lighting and the compact design make this locomotive a special eye-catcher on your model railway layout. The combination of classic design and modern LED technology ensures a harmonious overall appearance.
