Roco H0 Steam locomotive 50 849, DR, Era III-IV: A living monument to German railroad history
The Roco H0 steam locomotive 50 849 is an impressive replica of a true legend of German railroad history. Built in 1940 by Krauss-Maffei in Munich-Allach under the factory number 16058, the locomotive remained in the Soviet occupation zone after the Second World War and from then on served with the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR). After the end of its active service, it was taken over and restored by the 3/75 "Eisenbahntradition" Zwickau working group, which was founded in 1979. It has been part of the DR Tradition Park since 1980 and has been used many times in special trains, including as the locomotive of the "Zwickau Tradition Train". Today, the rolling museum locomotive is lovingly maintained in the Glauchau engine shed.
