Roco 7120035 H0 Dampflok Rh 477 CSD Ep.IV AC-Sound dyn. Dampf Product Details

Roco 7120035 H0 Steam Locomotive Class 477.0 ČSD Era IV AC Sound – Blue “Papoušek” with Dynamic Steam

Would you like to experience the fascinating world of steam railroads on your H0 model railroad layout with realistic sound, impressive steam emission, and exceptional lighting? The Roco 7120035 Class 477.0 steam locomotive of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) combines historic railway technology with state-of-the-art model railway features. As a special edition model, the legendary “Papoušek” is appearing for the first time in a blue paint scheme and as a variant of the second production series featuring the characteristic large water tanks. The digital AC version features a factory-installed PluX22 sound decoder, dynamic steam, and digitally controllable cab and engine lighting. An impressive model for discerning H0 model railroaders and enthusiasts of exceptional steam locomotives.

Prototype: The ČSD Class 477.0—a masterpiece of Czechoslovak steam locomotive engineering

The 477.0 series is considered the last and technically most advanced steam locomotive series of the Czechoslovak State Railways. Between 1951 and 1955, the ČKD Sokolovo locomotive factory in Prague produced a total of 60 units. These powerful tender locomotives were further developed from the preceding Class 476.1 and were intended for heavy passenger and express train service. With their 2'D2' wheel arrangement and a service weight of approximately 131 metric tons, they were among the heaviest tender locomotives in Europe. The three-cylinder steam engines reached a top speed of about 100 km/h and developed a starting tractive effort of nearly 110 kN. This made the locomotives ideally suited for demanding passenger service and counted among the highlights of Czechoslovak steam locomotive construction.

The Blue “Papoušek” – A Steam Locomotive of Unmistakable Elegance

The Class 477.0 locomotives impressed not only with their performance but also with their extraordinary design. The streamlined firebox, the characteristic Witte air deflectors, and the often colorful paint schemes with elegant decorative lines made the locomotives highly recognizable. Because of their eye-catching color scheme, they were nicknamed “Papoušek,” which means “parrot” in German. The Roco 7120035 captures this unique character and presents the tender locomotive for the first time in a striking blue paint scheme. This makes the Czechoslovakian “Parrot” an impressive eye-catcher on any historic H0 model railroad layout.

Exclusive limited-edition model with large water tanks

A special feature of the Roco 7120035 is its recreation of the second production series with the large and distinctive side water tanks. This design variant gives the locomotive a distinctive silhouette and sets it apart from other versions of the 477.0 series. The blue paint scheme, a first for this model, emphasizes its elegant lines and makes the model particularly appealing to collectors. As a Roco Edition model, this version combines an exceptional historical design with a highly detailed model construction. The impressive appearance of this powerful express train tank locomotive is particularly well showcased on a model railroad layout featuring Czechoslovakian-inspired models from Era IV.

Delicate wiring, metal components, and a detailed cab

Roco places great emphasis on a meticulous and prototypical design for the 477.0 series. Particularly noteworthy are the delicate pipes beneath the boiler, which underscore the complex appearance of the three-cylinder steam locomotive. Delicately designed spoked wheels and various metal model parts complement the high-quality construction. The cab has also been designed with great attention to detail and provides an interesting glimpse into the technology of the historic prototype. For a particularly sophisticated display, some of the locomotive’s signage is additionally included as etched parts. Thus, the Roco 7120035 offers numerous details that impress both during operation and when displayed in a model showcase.

Dynamic Steam – Fascinating Steam Ejection from the Chimney

A special highlight of this digital AC version is the integrated dynamic steam generator. It produces an impressive steam emission from the chimney and adds an extraordinary visual effect to the steam locomotive’s movement. The smoke generator can be activated in digital mode and ensures a particularly lifelike depiction of historic steam locomotive operation. The visible steam really comes into its own, especially when a passenger train is pulling away, during slow shunting maneuvers, or during an impressive departure from the station. Combined with the integrated sound system, this creates a fascinating steam locomotive atmosphere that goes far beyond classic model railroad operation.

AC Digital Operation with PluX22 Sound Decoder

The Roco 7120035 is designed for digital AC operation on compatible H0 center-track layouts. A PluX22 digital decoder with sound is installed at the factory. This allows the locomotive’s movements to be controlled via a suitable digital command station and accompanied by authentic steam locomotive sounds. The integrated sound features complement the dynamic steam exhaust and bring this historic tender locomotive to life on your model railroad layout. Whether starting out, traveling along the track, or stopping at a station—the combination of digital sound and visible steam ensures a varied driving experience. No additional decoder retrofit is required for the intended digital operation and sound.

Digitally Controllable Cab & Engine Lighting

In addition to the dynamic steam function, the Roco Series 477.0 offers other interesting lighting features. The digitally controllable LED cab lighting effectively highlights the intricately designed workstation of the locomotive crew. In addition, the model features digitally controllable engine lighting, which provides impressive views of the steam locomotive’s mechanics, especially in the dark. The locomotive also has a direction-dependent three-light LED headlight at both ends of the vehicle. The combination of headlights, cab lighting, engine lighting, and dynamic steam makes this steam locomotive an extraordinary highlight for digital H0 model railroading.

Powerful Drive with a Five-Pole Motor & Flywheel

The Roco 7120035 also impresses technically with its well-designed features. A five-pole motor, combined with a flywheel, ensures smooth running characteristics and supports quiet operation. Four axles are powered, while one axle is equipped with traction tires to improve traction. This design makes it well-suited for use in front of historic passenger trains and express trains. With a length over buffers of 199 mm and a minimum curve radius of 358 mm, the tender locomotive can be used on appropriately designed H0 center-track layouts. The combination of a powerful drive, digital sound technology, and dynamic steam makes the blue “Papoušek” a particularly interesting locomotive for discerning model railroaders.

Matching Passenger Trains & Versatile Applications

The Roco 7120035 is ideal for H0 model railroad layouts based on Czechoslovakian designs from Era IV. As a powerful express train tender locomotive, the Class 477.0 pairs particularly well with historic ČSD passenger cars and express train cars. Designing larger stations, classic platform layouts, and a steam locomotive depot also offers interesting possibilities. The digital sound functions, engine lighting, and dynamic steam discharge are particularly impressive when the locomotive exits a station. For coupling with compatible cars, the model features a NEM 362 coupling shaft with close-coupling kinematics. This makes the locomotive ideal for varied passenger train journeys on digitally controlled AC layouts.

An exceptional AC Sound Edition model for steam locomotive collectors

The Roco 7120035 combines the history of one of the most significant Czechoslovakian steam locomotive series with a high-quality H0 model and exceptional digital functions. The original blue paint scheme, the body variant with large water tanks, and the numerous intricate details make the “Papoušek” a visual highlight in its own right. With the factory-installed PluX22 sound decoder, dynamic steam exhaust, and digitally controllable cab and engine lighting, the AC version also offers an impressive driving experience. This limited-edition model is an excellent choice, especially for ČSD collectors, enthusiasts of historic express locomotives, and discerning AC digital model railroading enthusiasts. Get the Roco 7120035 Class 477.0 with AC sound and dynamic steam, and experience the fascinating technology of the legendary “Papoušek” on your H0 model railroad layout!
