DB AG 101 013 - "50 Years of Intercity" anniversary locomotive with sound

To mark the "50 years of Intercity in Germany" anniversary, Deutsche Bahn locomotive 101 013 was given a special livery in a stylized IC design - to match the modern long-distance coaches. Since September 2021, the normally traffic red locomotive has been wearing the light gray paint scheme with traffic red trim, based on the ICE design. Roco is now presenting this unique prototype for the first time as a sound version with extensive digital functions - perfect for modern H0 layouts with a long-distance ambience.

Design & workmanship

The anniversary design of the 101 013 combines the classic silhouette of the DB class 101 with a modern appearance. The light gray paint scheme with traffic red trim makes this locomotive an eye-catcher in long-distance service. The exact printing and sharp engravings correspond to the usual high Roco standard and emphasize the unique collector's value of this special version.

Prototype information

The class 101 was put into service in 1996 and gradually replaced the legendary class 103 in high-quality passenger train service. A total of 145 locomotives were built by the end of 1999. The 101 013 is one of a few locomotives that are on the road in special paint schemes - the anniversary design for the 50th anniversary of the IC system is a tribute to the long-distance transportation history of the DB.
