Roco 7310084 H0 Diesel locomotive L.D.61, FVS, Ep. III-IV, DC sound
The Roco 7310084 L.D.61 diesel locomotive of the Ferrovia della Valle Seriana (FVS) is a detailed model from eras III-IV and impresses with its realistic design and modern digital technology. With a sound decoder, LED lighting and numerous finely executed details, this model is an ideal addition to any model railway layout with a focus on branch line operation.
Historical background
The original design of this locomotive goes back to the WR 360 C 14 series, which was originally developed by the German Wehrmacht for strategic purposes. After the Second World War, numerous licensed models were built for civilian railroad companies. For the Ferrovia della Valle Seriana (FVS), the Greco company in Reggio Emilia produced two locomotives under license from Deutz in 1953/54. Under the designation L.D.61, they took over the shunting and train service there and proved to be reliable all-round machines.
Realistic model realization
The model is equipped with the modern Next18 interface for the first time and therefore offers simple options for digitization. A bell on the front end sets the locomotive apart from other variants and is a characteristic detail of these Italian licensed models. The compact design and the length of only 106 mm make the locomotive ideal for use on smaller layouts, especially on branch lines.
Digital equipment with sound
The Roco L.D.61 is equipped with a DCC digital decoder and a sound function to enhance its operation acoustically. In addition to realistic engine and driving noises, the model offers a switchable shunting light in digital mode. The 2 headlights with LED technology change depending on the direction of travel and provide an authentic driving experience on the layout.
Technical features
Three axles drive the locomotive, one of which has traction tires to increase tractive power. A 5-pole motor with flywheel mass ensures smooth and quiet running characteristics. Thanks to the NEM 362 coupling mount with close coupling kinematics, the locomotive can be used flexibly in various train formations. This makes it ideal for recreating realistic branch line scenarios.
Possible uses
The locomotive looks particularly harmonious in combination with the matching branch line freight train (item no. 6600229). It is perfectly suited for operation in eras III-IV and brings additional atmosphere to the model railroad with sound and lighting. With its typical appearance and compact size, it is a valuable model for collectors as well as for active operating railroaders.
