Roco diesel locomotive 120 144-1 - TT, DR, Era IV, with sound
With the Roco 7390019 model, you get a detailed and technically high-quality replica of the class 120 (V 200 series) of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. In an unusual paint scheme with wide Dessau ornamental stripes and original silencer, it brings style and sound to your TT layout and is particularly suitable for long trains in era-appropriate DR scenarios.
Design & workmanship
The model impresses with fine details such as the original silencer, a wide Dessau decorative stripe as well as clean paintwork and precise lettering. Many separately attached components such as handle bars, ventilation grilles, handrails and roof details give the model a high-quality and authentic appearance. A real eye-catcher for fans of the GDR era.
Technology & equipment
The locomotive is driven by six axles, two of which have traction tires, and is equipped with a flywheel for smooth running. The factory-integrated sound decoder provides authentic engine noises and additional acoustic effects. The 3 headlights at both ends of the vehicle with LED technology light up depending on the direction and emphasize the prototypical character. The NEM 651 interface allows compatibility with common digital connections.
Historical background
Between 1966 and 1975, the Deutsche Reichsbahn procured a total of 378 locomotives of the V 200 series for traction changes and to increase performance in freight traffic. As the original locomotives had no train heating, they were mainly used for freight traffic. Because of the distinctive and loud engine, they were nicknamed the "Taiga drum". The 120 144-1 was stationed in the Dresden depot, among other places, and was based in the Dresden regional area (Rbd Dresden).
Compatibility & possible uses
This model is designed for DC digital operation and offers connectivity to common digital control centers thanks to the NEM 651 interface. It is particularly suitable for operation in DR freight trains, long freight trains or robust shuttle services on lines without train heating.
Purchase arguments & target group
This model is an excellent choice for model railroaders who value sound, technology and an epoch-appropriate appearance. The combination of sound, detailed replica and historical significance makes it particularly interesting for GDR collectors and digital enthusiasts.
