About the model: The "Halberstädter" 1st class express train car, class Ame, is a German State Railroad version and is from Era IV. The model was designed in the InterExpress paint scheme, finely detailed bogies and prototypical interior fittings. Interior lighting can also be retrofitted.
About the prototype: The new train type IEx - InterExpress train - was introduced as a novelty in the international passenger service of the German State Railroad of the GDR at the timetable change in May 1986. The destinations were the capitals of the socialist brother states. These trains always used the most modern rolling stock of the participating railroad administrations. The most up-to-date coaches of the time were the large-capacity comfort coaches manufactured in Bautzen with air conditioning and sliding doors. In order to standardize the appearance of such trains, some "Halberstadt" passenger coaches were painted in the same colour scheme and used as reinforcement coaches.
