The Deutsche Bahn electric locomotive 101 139 is the embodiment of modern high-speed train service in Germany. With an impressive top speed of 220 km/h and a continuous output of 6,400 kW, it is specially designed for IC/EC traffic. A total of 145 units of this class were put into service by the end of 1999 to replace the legendary class 103.
