Roco 7510252 H0 Electric Locomotive 1931 Rail Force One – 95 Years of NVBS Era VI with DC Digital Sound
Would you like to experience an extraordinary anniversary locomotive with authentic sound and digitally controllable lighting functions on your H0 model railroad? The Roco 7510252 1931 Electric Locomotive from Rail Force One (RFO) combines Dutch railway history with modern digital technology. The model impresses with its elaborate special design commemorating the 95th anniversary of the Dutch Society of Railway and Tram Enthusiasts (NVBS). A pre-installed PluX22 sound decoder, digitally controllable head and tail lights, and an illuminated cab make this DC sound model a special highlight.
The anniversary locomotive was developed in cooperation with Railcolor Design and commemorates the founding of the NVBS in 1931. With its eye-catching livery, air-conditioning and signal horn box, as well as pantographs featuring an innovative mounting system, the Roco 7510252 is an attractive model for collectors and digital rail enthusiasts.
95 Years of NVBS – An Anniversary Locomotive with a Special History
In 2026, the Dutch Society of Railway and Tram Enthusiasts (NVBS) celebrated its 95th anniversary. Founded in 1931, the association has been dedicated to the history and present state of railway and tram transportation for decades.
The association wanted to make a statement that would be visible from afar for the anniversary. Together with Rail Force One, the idea arose to give a former electric locomotive of the Dutch State Railways a special anniversary design.
Rail Force One provided locomotive 1831 for this purpose. At that time, the locomotive still bore the livery of the now-defunct railway company Locon.
In early December 2025, a group of dedicated NVBS volunteers carefully removed the existing wrap by hand. The locomotive was then given its new anniversary design.
The new designation, 1931, is a deliberate reference to the year the NVBS was founded. The official European vehicle number remained unchanged.
Roco brings this extraordinary story to life with item number 7510252 as a digital H0 sound locomotive from Era VI.
Elaborate anniversary graphics in collaboration with Railcolor Design
A distinctive appearance
The most striking feature of the Roco 1931 is the elaborate printing in the NVBS anniversary design.
The special design makes the locomotive a real eye-catcher and clearly sets it apart from the usual color schemes of modern electric locomotives.
The design was created in collaboration with Railcolor Design and combines the tradition of Dutch railway enthusiasts with the history of a former Nazi-era electric locomotive.
The anniversary locomotive makes a particularly strong impression on a modern H0 layout. Whether pulling a freight train, in a rail yard, or as a display piece—the Roco 7510252 is sure to attract attention.
Version with air conditioning and signal horn box
In recreating the anniversary locomotive, Roco has also taken into account important technical details of the prototype.
The model features the version with air conditioning and a signal horn box. These features distinguish the depicted operational condition from the early versions of the Dutch Series 1600.
Together with the special anniversary livery, this creates a prototypical replica of the 1931 Rail Force One electric locomotive.
Delicate pantographs with innovative mounting
The roof equipment also contributes to the distinctive appearance of the Roco 7510252.
The pantographs feature an innovative mounting system and complement the typical silhouette of the Dutch electric locomotive.
Especially with a modern anniversary locomotive, such details play an important role in the model’s overall effect.
The combination of air conditioning, a signal horn box, pantographs, and elaborate custom design makes the Roco 1931 an interesting addition to discerning H0 collections.
Digital sound for a lifelike model railroad experience
The Roco 7510252 comes equipped with a built-in PluX22 sound decoder.
This allows you to operate the locomotive on a compatible digital H0 DC layout using the intended sound functions.
The sound features enhance the driving experience and add an extra dimension to this anniversary locomotive.
Whether starting up, while traveling, or while stopped at the station—the available sound functions add more variety to digital model railroad operation.
The sound version offers particularly interesting added value for model railroaders who not only collect exceptional locomotives but also want to run them regularly.
Digitally controllable headlight and tail light
The Roco 1931 Anniversary Locomotive is equipped with modern LED lighting.
The model features a three-light headlight that changes direction with the train’s movement and two tail lights.
In digital mode, the headlight and tail light can be switched on and off using the corresponding function buttons.
This allows you to simulate various operating scenarios on your H0 model railroad layout.
Especially when used in front of freight trains or during shunting maneuvers, the digitally controllable lighting offers additional possibilities for varied train operations.
Switchable cab lighting for added atmosphere
Another feature of the Roco 7510252 is the digitally controllable LED cab lighting.
This feature allows you to illuminate the cab selectively and effectively showcase the locomotive, for example, while it is stopped at a station.
This creates an interesting additional effect, especially with dimmed room lighting or on a model railroad layout with nighttime operation.
The combination of digital sound, switchable head and tail lights, and cab lighting makes this anniversary locomotive a highly versatile model.
Four powered axles and a flywheel
Technically, the Roco 7510252 also offers a solid foundation for regular model railroad operation.
The electric locomotive features four powered axles and an integrated flywheel.
The flywheel ensures smooth running and improves coasting performance.
In addition, one axle is equipped with traction tires. These enhance traction and are particularly advantageous when pulling longer train formations.
With a length over buffers of 201 mm, the model has a distinctive appearance on your H0 layout.
PluX22 digital decoder already installed
The Roco 7510252 is the digital DC version with sound.
The model comes equipped with a PluX22 digital decoder right out of the box. Therefore, no additional digitization is required for the intended digital operation.
The available running, sound, and lighting functions can be controlled via a compatible digital command station.
Of particular interest are the separately switchable head and tail lights, as well as the digitally controllable cab lighting.
In this way, the Roco anniversary locomotive combines classic Dutch railway history with the possibilities of modern digital model railroading technology.
From the NS 1831 to the NVBS Anniversary Locomotive of 1931
The history of today’s Rail Force One anniversary locomotive began long before the NVBS anniversary.
Originally, the locomotive, designated 1831, belonged to the Dutch electric locomotive family of the 1600 and 1800 series.
These locomotives were based on the French BB 7200 and shaped electric rail transport in the Netherlands for many decades.
After its service with the Dutch State Railways, the locomotive was used by other railroad companies.
Later, it operated under the Locon livery before Rail Force One made it available for the NVBS anniversary project.
With its new design as the 1931, this historic electric locomotive was given a special role as a visible ambassador for 95 years of Dutch railway passion.
This model is particularly interesting for collectors because it links the history of a classic electric locomotive with a current anniversary event.
Matching freight cars and usage scenarios
The Roco 7510252 is ideal for modern H0 model railroad layouts of Era VI.
As a Rail Force One locomotive, the model can be combined, for example, with modern freight cars.
Container cars, tank cars, sliding-tarpaulin cars, and other Era VI freight cars offer interesting possibilities for creating varied train formations.
This eye-catching model also looks great as a special anniversary locomotive in a rail yard or on a display track.
The NEM 362 coupler housing with close-coupling kinematics facilitates the use of compatible coupler systems.
The minimum curve radius is 358 mm. This makes the locomotive suitable for numerous H0 layouts that support this radius.
A special model for collectors and digital model railroaders
The Roco 7510252 is aimed specifically at model railroad enthusiasts who appreciate exceptional electric locomotives with an interesting history.
Collectors of Dutch railway vehicles will receive a special anniversary edition of the time-honored NS locomotive family.
For enthusiasts of modern promotional and special-edition locomotives, the elaborate NVBS design is an attractive highlight.
Digital model railroaders also benefit from the built-in sound decoder and the switchable lighting functions.
This makes the Roco 1931 suitable for both display cases and varied digital operation.
