Roco 7510284 H0 E-Lok Rh 1042.47 ÖBB Ep.III-IV DCC-Sound Product Details
Roco 7510284 – ÖBB Electric Locomotive 1042.47 in H0 Scale, Era IV, DCC Sound
Would you like to not only admire Austrian railway history in model form, but also experience it with the appropriate soundscapes? The Roco 7510284 combines the classic appearance of the ÖBB 1042.47 with DCC sound. Reenact a morning departure from the station or a locomotive change, and make the preparations for the next train run part of your model railroading experience.
New design with characteristic prototype details
This newly announced model features the second production version with door handles positioned at the top. Finely detailed roof walkways and a pantograph with a new mounting system round out the replica.
A clearly visible staging track provides the perfect spot to display the locomotive before its next run. Even during a slow pass-by, you can let your gaze wander over the roof and side walls—a wonderful opportunity to consciously take in the vehicle’s details.
DCC Sound and Digitally Controllable Lighting
The sound decoder is factory-installed. The high beams, headlights, and tail lights, as well as the cab, dashboard, and engine room lighting, are digitally controllable.
Use these features, for example, for an evening operating scene: While the cars are waiting at the platform, prepare the locomotive for departure. Lights and sound add an extra dimension to the scene.
Technical Features for Your Two-Wire Layout
The two-wire model features a PluX22 interface, four-axle drive, flywheel, and close-coupling mechanism. For digital operation, you’ll need a compatible DCC controller.
Plan your train set to match the available track lengths. Also take into account the requirements of the attached cars so that even tight curves and turnouts are included in your train planning.
The Prototype: the ÖBB Class 1042
In 1963, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) received the first Class 1042 electric locomotives. A total of 257 locomotives were added to the fleet. Initially used primarily on the Southern Railway, the class later spread throughout Austria. In cross-border service, the locomotives also operated in Germany.
Their use with passenger and freight trains offers plenty of inspiration for your model railroad. Put together a suitable ÖBB passenger train or plan a freight train route. When selecting cars, base your choices on the time period and specific operating conditions you wish to recreate.
