The 1116 203 "Eurovision Song Contest 2026" electric locomotive from the Austrian Federal Railways is a strikingly designed advertising medium on rails. Austria - and the whole world - are in song contest fever. Before Vienna turns into the hotspot of the world's biggest music competition from 11 to 16 May, Austrian Federal Railways sent a specially designed Taurus locomotive onto the track.

To mark the occasion, a Taurus locomotive was ceremoniously christened in Vienna on February 18. In its service in front of the Railjet, it carries the message of the ESC through Austria, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland. The model implements this special design as a licensed ÖBB model and reproduces the locomotive 1116 203-1 in Era VI.

Special design and equipment

The model impresses with its elaborate printing in a special design on the occasion of the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. The visual implementation is complemented by an elaborate roof design as well as an additional pantograph and a Switzerland package. The locomotive is used in front of the ÖBB Railjet trains and has a NEM 362 shaft with KK kinematics. A coupler adapter is included for use in front of Railjet models that are factory-equipped with electric couplers.

Technology and digital equipment

The electric locomotive is designed for the AC power system and has an electric interface for PluX22 traction units. A PluX22 digital decoder is integrated and sound is also available. In digital operation, switchable high beams and switchable headlights and marker lights are available. The headlights are designed as 3 headlights / 2 marker lights, depending on the direction of travel. LED headlights and an additional light function are available. A Z21 driver's cab is available.

With a length over buffers of 221 mm, the model is designed in H0 scale. The minimum radius is 358 mm. The locomotive has three powered axles, two of which have traction tires, and a flywheel. The locomotive is assigned to the ÖBB railroad company and is classified as Era VI.
