Roco electric locomotive E 42 015 - TT, DR, Era III, with sound
With the Roco 7590027, the electric locomotive E 42 015 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn appears in a prototypical realization for the TT scale. This model is richly detailed, equipped with Next18 interface, digital sound and switchable engine room lighting, making it a real asset to any Era III layout.
Design & workmanship
The locomotive is presented in the early DR version with four distinctive double fan grilles and finely detailed running gear. Clean printing, white lettering and separately applied parts such as handle bars and fan grilles ensure a realistic appearance. The robust yet detailed body makes the model particularly attractive for collectors and railway enthusiasts.
Technology & equipment
A 5-pole motor with flywheel mass drives four axles, two of which are fitted with traction tires to increase tractive power. The lighting consists of a 3 headlights / 2 taillights in LED technology with direction of travel-dependent changeover. In digital operation, in addition to the Next18 sound decoder, additional functions such as switchable headlights/tail lights and engine room lighting are available.
Historical background
In the 1960s, the Deutsche Reichsbahn needed modern electric locomotives for the growing electrified lines. The LEW Hennigsdorf then developed the E 11 (express locomotive) and E 42 (freight locomotive) series, which differed in their gear ratios. A total of 387 locomotives were built between 1961 and 1977. The first series locomotives, such as the E 42 015, were fitted with four double fan grilles and reinforcing beading in the frame - typical features of these early years of construction.
Compatibility & possible uses
The model is designed for DC digital operation and has a modern Next18 interface. With sound, light functions and high tractive power, the locomotive is ideal for freight and passenger trains in Era III. It goes perfectly in combination with Roco wagon material from the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
Purchase arguments & target group
The E 42 015 is a must for DR enthusiasts and TT model railroaders who are looking for an authentic Era III vehicle. With its successful combination of faithfulness to the original, technology and digital functions, it is aimed at collectors, digital railroaders and friends of East German railroad history.
