Tillig 02036 TT Dampflokomotive BR 38.10, DB, Ep. III Product Details
A classic German Federal Railroad steam locomotive for authentic Era III train services
The Tillig 02036 TT steam locomotive BR 38.10 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn is a finely detailed novelty 2026 and brings the nostalgic steam operation of the 1950s and 60s to your TT layout. Based in the Tübingen depot, this locomotive embodies one of the most widely used locomotive series in passenger and light freight service in the early days of the German Federal Railroad.
Model information & technical data
The locomotive is designed for the TT gauge on a scale of 1:120. With a length over buffers of 155 mm and a product weight of approx. 300 g including packaging, it offers a balanced combination of compactness and stability. The digital interface according to NEM 662 allows easy digitization, sound can be retrofitted. The minimum passable radius is 310 mm.
Technology & driving characteristics
The model is equipped with four traction tires for optimum tractive force. The NEM coupler pocket in conjunction with close coupler kinematics enables realistic train formations. The locomotive has a two-stage light signal (2-light peak signal) that changes depending on the direction of travel and faithfully reproduces everyday operation.
Appearance & historical design
The BR 38.10 has the typical appearance of Era III of the German Federal Railroad. The fine rows of rivets, harmonious proportions, clean paintwork and lettering make the heart of every steam locomotive fan beat faster. The locomotive is modeled after the prototype from the Tübingen depot - a well-known depot in southern Germany.
Prototype: Class 38.10 - the Prussian P 8 in DB service
The class 38.10 goes back to the famous Prussian P 8 and was one of the most reliable and most frequently built steam locomotives in Germany for decades. After the Second World War, it remained a backbone of Bundesbahn traffic - especially in local traffic, on branch lines and in transfer trains. Their robust construction and versatility made them irreplaceable until the 1960s.
For model railroaders with an appreciation for classic steam locomotive technology of the Federal Railroad era
The Tillig BR 38.10 is ideal for use with old passenger cars, branch line trains or light freight trains - and brings the charm of the early DB era directly to your TT layout. Ideal for all those who want to experience a piece of German railroad history on a scale of 1:120.
