Tillig 02192 TT Dampflokomotive BR 84, DR, Ep. III Product Details
A rare DR pre-series locomotive for characterful Era III scenes
The Tillig 02192 TT steam locomotive class 84 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn is a novelty 2026 with a special collector's value: As a pre-series locomotive in the condition of its last years of operation, it represents a unique piece of GDR railroad history. The class 84 was specially designed for use on mountain lines - compact, powerful and technically exceptional.
Model information & technical data
The locomotive is made for the TT gauge on a scale of 1:120 and measures 130 mm over buffers. The model weighs approx. 250 g including packaging. A digital interface in accordance with NEM 664 allows easy conversion to digital operation. An electric coupler can also be installed and a sound decoder can be retrofitted. The minimum passable radius is 310 mm.
Technology & driving characteristics
The model has an NEM coupler pocket and close coupler kinematics for realistic train formation. The 2-light headlights that depend on the direction of travel provide atmospheric operating scenes - both during the day and at night.
Appearance & historical design
The locomotive was implemented in the design of the late operating phase - including typical operational aging elements and typical lettering of Era III on the Deutsche Reichsbahn. With its striking boiler, the compact design and the powerful engine details, it looks as if it has been taken directly from the Saxon or Thuringian low mountain ranges.
Prototype: Class 84 - Powerhouse for demanding routes
The class 84 was a further development of the successful standard locomotive concepts and was specially designed in 1935 for use on steep lines. With its five coupled axles and narrow wheelbase, it was ideally suited for winding mountain routes. It was used by the DR on challenging branch lines in the Erzgebirge until the late 1960s.
For model railroaders with an appreciation for rare locomotives and special technical features
The Tillig BR 84 not only offers an extraordinary look, but also an interesting chapter of railroad history in model format. Ideal for Era III layouts with topographically challenging routes - or as an eye-catcher in a collector's display case.
