Description

Tillig 77072 H0 Gedeckter Güterwagen Glms 1364, DR, Ep. IV Product Details

Tillig 77072 H0 Covered freight car Glms 1364, DR, Ep. IV: Special transport in freight traffic in the GDR

The Tillig 77072 H0 boxcar Glms 1364 is an exclusive one-time edition for 2025 and a detailed model of a special freight car of the German State Railroad (DR) from Era IV. This wagon was used especially for the transportation of tetraethyl lead, an important additive for the production of leaded gasoline. With its authentic implementation and striking lettering, it is a highlight for freight train formations and special industrial scenarios on your H0 model railroad layout.

The prototype: Glms 1364 boxcar for special transportation

The Glms 1364 was a typical covered goods wagon, but was used for the transportation of hazardous goods such as tetraethyl lead due to its special markings and equipment. This chemical additive was used in the GDR and other countries as an important component in the production of leaded gasoline. Due to its toxic and highly flammable properties, safe and enclosed transportation was required, which was ensured by wagons such as the Glms 1364.

The robust wagons were equipped with ventilated walls and special safety precautions to guarantee safe transportation. The warning lettering was particularly striking, indicating the dangerous nature of the cargo being transported and thus making it immediately recognizable that this was a hazardous goods transport.

The German Reichsbahn in Era IV

Era IV (1965-1990) was characterized by the modernization and expansion of the Deutsche Reichsbahn's wagon fleet. During this time, the transportation of chemicals and hazardous goods also played an increasingly important role, as industrial production and the demand for raw materials increased. Covered freight cars such as the Glms 1364 were a central component of freight traffic and were used on main and branch lines for the transportation of hazardous materials, foodstuffs and other sensitive goods.

Tillig - Detailed model realization

The Tillig 77072 Glms 1364 impresses with an exact reproduction of its prototype and a detailed realization. The finely engraved side walls with the typical wood structures as well as the precisely applied warning lettering and road numbers make this model an authentic reproduction of the original car. The roof section is realistically designed and shows the typical design of the covered goods wagons of this period.

The underbody of the wagon is also carefully reproduced and contains technical details such as brake systems and suspension elements. The movable doors provide additional authenticity and make the wagon particularly interesting as a showpiece in freight yard scenarios.

Technical details and coupling system

The model has a length over buffers (LüP) of 115 mm and is equipped with a coupling shaft according to NEM as well as close coupling kinematics. This ensures a prototypical connection in the train formation and a small distance between the cars. The robust running gear ensures stable running, even on tight radii and at high speeds.

The wagon is designed for operation on direct current systems and can be easily combined with other covered freight wagons or hazardous goods wagons to recreate realistic Era IV train formations.

Color design and prototypical lettering

The Tillig 77072 is painted in the typical brown livery of DR Era IV boxcars. The eye-catching warning lettering, which indicates the transportation of dangerous goods, is applied precisely and clearly visible. These authentic details make the wagon an important part of historical freight trains and increase the realism on any H0 model railway layout.

Care and maintenance

To maintain the high functionality and attractive appearance of the model in the long term, the wagon should be cleaned regularly. The wheels and couplings should be kept free of dirt to ensure optimum running characteristics and trouble-free operation. The moving doors can also be checked occasionally for smooth operation.

Conclusion: A special model for hazardous goods and industrial scenarios

The Tillig 77072 H0 Covered Goods Wagon Glms 1364 is the perfect choice for model railroaders who want to recreate realistic hazardous goods transportation or industrial scenarios of the German State Railroad. With its detailed realization, striking lettering and movable elements, it enriches every layout and ensures authentic operating situations. Combine it with other special or hazardous goods wagons to create a complete hazardous goods train set.
