Description

Trix 22198 H0 electric locomotive 120 120-1, DB, Ep.IV, DC-MFX-sound Product Details

About the original: The DB class 120 is considered a milestone in the development of electric locomotives. This is mainly due to the fact that the 65 units were the first series-produced three-phase locomotives in the high-performance range with converters using semiconductor technology. The alternating current from the overhead line is converted into three-phase current to drive the asynchronous traction motors by traction converters. Based on this technology, the first ICE traction units were developed in the mid-1980s. The locomotives were mainly used for long-distance services, but were also used occasionally for freight services. In July 2020, almost all class 120 locomotives were taken out of service by DB Fernverkehr. What remained were a few locomotives that moved the Hanse-Expess between Rostock and Hamburg on behalf of DB Regio Nordost and some of the locomotives were still in use at DB Systemtechnik until November 2023.

About the model: With this reproduction of the class 120, Trix offers a technically and visually very convincing model that depicts the operating condition around 1987. The model is visually impressive due to the excellent reproduction of the shape of the locomotive body, a large number of intricate details and a paint scheme that is true to the original. This is characterized by the high precision of the prints and lettering and the excellent color tone. The many details include accurately reproduced roof electronics, including digitally raised and lowered pantographs, fan grilles, free-standing grab rails and a very detailed running gear. The technical features of the locomotive are also impressive across the board. It has a centrally installed, controlled high-performance drive with flywheel, which drives 4 axles and thus ensures excellent running characteristics and high tractive power. The extensive light and sound functions can be controlled digitally thanks to the factory-fitted sound decoder. A high-quality loudspeaker ensures that the sound functions sound powerful, clear and true to the original.
