Wunderwald Bahnbücher Das Mittelsächsische Schmalspurnetz, Band 2 Product Details
With 232 km of track, the Central Saxon narrow-gauge railway network was the largest narrow-gauge railway network in Germany after 1945. It was built between 1882 and 1923 and it was still possible to travel on the narrow-gauge line between Freital near Dresden and Neichen near Leipzig until 1964.
In terms of transportation, the Central Saxony narrow-gauge railway network, consisting of the Wilsdruff and Mügeln narrow-gauge railway networks and the Freital Hainsberg - Kurort Kipsdorf line, covered a catchment area of well over 2000 km². Mügeln had the largest and Wilsdruff the second largest narrow-gauge railway station in Germany.
The color illustrated book is a continuation of the black and white illustrated book from 2011, which paid tribute to the last decades of operation until the closure or partial closures. This time you will be enchanted by the unimaginable wealth of color photographs, some of which are over 50 years old, and let yourself be whisked away to a time when the clocks seemed to go slower. Stories and anecdotes round off the picture in an entertaining way and make it clear that the narrow-gauge railroads were integrated into the lives of the population in a very special way.
