ASM Arndt Spezial Modelle 79501 H0 Diesellok DE2700, NIAG, Ep. V, AC-Digital Product Details

ASM Arndt Special Models 79501 H0 Diesel Locomotive DE2700, NIAG, Era V, AC-Digital

Are you looking for a digital H0 diesel locomotive with a strong private-railway character and a specific operational background in the Rhine-Ruhr region? The ASM Arndt Special Models 79501 H0 DE2700 Diesel Locomotive, NIAG, Era V, AC-Digital is an interesting choice for model railroaders who want to expand their fleet with a modern diesel locomotive for freight service. The model represents a DE2700 from the NIAG, bringing a distinctive Era V vehicle to the layout.

The prototype was leased by NIAG starting in 2012. It was one of the DE2700-series diesel locomotives in service with the Nord-Ostsee-Bahn. The locomotive was used for freight service and was assigned the road number “10.” Until 2017, it could be found in this role throughout the Rhine-Ruhr region. The model thus provides a very suitable basis for realistic freight train and private railway scenes.

NIAG’s DE2700 for Freight Service

The paint scheme and lettering of the prototype have been largely retained. Only the locomotive number and the NIAG website address were added to the locomotive. It is precisely this understated adaptation that gives the model an authentic “rental locomotive” character. This version is particularly appealing to model railroaters who wish to depict the use of leased private railway locomotives.

As an H0 model, the locomotive is ideal for layouts focused on modern freight transport. Its classification as Era V fits well with industrial sidings, switching yards, freight yards, and main lines with private railway traffic. Thanks to the 3L AC system, this variant is designed for AC layouts and can be operated digitally there.

High-quality construction with die-cast zinc

The model’s frame and body are made of die-cast zinc, while the roof assembly is made of plastic. This combination of materials ensures a high-quality model appearance and reinforces the powerful impression of the diesel locomotive. The paint scheme and decals correspond exactly to the prototype, resulting in a convincing reproduction of the NIAG version.

The model also excels in its attention to detail. The reproduction of a multitude of details makes the locomotive interesting both for layout operation and as a collector’s item. Spring-loaded buffers and the close-coupling mechanism with NEM coupler mount complement the practical features and allow for seamless integration into compatible train sets.

AC Digital version without sound

The ASM 79501 is digitally equipped and features a built-in ESU LokPilot for digital and analog operation. Since “No Sound” is specified, this version is intended for model railroaders who prefer a digital AC locomotive without a sound function. The head and tail lights, which change direction with the locomotive’s movement, are digitally controllable and create a realistic effect during operation.

In the AC version, all axles of a bogie are powered. Two wheels are fitted with traction tires. This makes the locomotive well-suited for use with appropriate freight trains. If you are looking for a digital H0 diesel locomotive with NIAG references, a die-cast zinc housing, and an authentic freight train look, the ASM Arndt Spezial Model 79501 is a compelling addition to your layout.
