ASM Arndt Spezial Modelle 79601 H0 Diesellok DE2700, NIAG, Ep. V, DC-Sound Product Details

ASM 79601 H0 Diesel Locomotive DE2700, NIAG, Era V, DC Sound

Are you looking for a powerful diesel locomotive for your H0 layout that impressively combines freight transport in the Rhine-Ruhr region, a distinctive private railway look, and digital sound? The ASM 79601 H0 DE2700 Diesel Locomotive, NIAG, Ep. V, DC Sound is a particularly interesting model for anyone who wants to operate a modern diesel locomotive with a specific real-world counterpart and high-quality technical features. The model depicts a DE2700 that was leased by NIAG starting in 2012 for freight service.

The prototype for this locomotive was previously in service with the Nord-Ostsee-Bahn and was assigned the road number “10” by NIAG. Until 2017, it could be found throughout the Rhine-Ruhr region. This makes the model ideal for layouts designed to depict industrial freight traffic, private railway operations, or modern Era V diesel locomotive services. It is precisely the combination of its North German origins and later service with NIAG that makes this locomotive particularly appealing to collectors and layout builders.

NIAG-DE2700 for Era V Freight Service

The prototype’s paint scheme and lettering have been largely preserved. Only the locomotive number and the NIAG website address were added to the locomotive. As a result, the diesel locomotive has a particularly interesting transitional and operational appearance that distinguishes it from completely redesigned vehicles. On the model railroad, this version looks authentic, distinctive, and very well-suited for freight train scenes in privately operated railways.

As an H0 model, the ASM 79601 makes a strong presence on the layout. The diesel locomotive class and its association with a private railway make the model highly versatile. Whether hauling freight trains, in shunting and transfer operations, or as a striking vehicle in a modern operational area: the NIAG DE2700 ensures credible and varied layout operations.

High-quality construction with die-cast zinc

The model’s frame and body are made of die-cast zinc, while the roof assembly is made of plastic. This combination of materials ensures a high-quality model appearance and underscores the locomotive’s robust character. The paint scheme and decals correspond exactly to the prototype, faithfully reproducing the distinctive NIAG design.

The level of detail is also designed to create a realistic overall impression. The model features a wide range of detailed elements and is equipped with spring-loaded buffers. The close-coupling mechanism with NEM coupler mount facilitates seamless integration into compatible train sets and makes the locomotive well-suited for practical layout operation.

DC sound with authentic locomotive sound

The ASM 79601 is digitally equipped and features sound. The sound version features an ESU LokSound 5 with a sound capsule. The authentic locomotive sound comes from a new recording made in February 2022 and was created exclusively for ASM. This gives the model a particularly lively acoustic effect during operation.

The head and tail lights, which change direction with the train’s direction of travel, are digitally controllable and ensure a realistic visual presentation. In the DC model, all six axles are powered, and two wheels are fitted with traction tires. If you’re looking for a distinctive private-railway diesel locomotive with NIAG references, digital sound, and high-quality construction, the ASM 79601 is a compelling addition to your H0 layout.
