Bemo 1004824 Steam locomotive K.W.St.E. Tssd 47-49 (9963), Era I: A piece of Württemberg railroad history
With the Bemo 1004824 steam locomotive model, Bemo is bringing a highly detailed finished model of the Mallet steam locomotive Tssd 47-49 of the Royal Württemberg State Railways (K.W.St.E.) from Era I onto the market. This steam locomotive, also known as the "K.W.St.E. 49", is a lovingly designed model for H0e gauge that recreates the elegance and performance of the narrow-gauge railroads of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The model impresses with its intricate details and the high-quality workmanship used in the Bemo Metal Collection. Equipped with a powerful bell-shaped armature motor and precise running characteristics, this model is an enrichment for every narrow-gauge model railway layout.
Prototype: The Mallet steam locomotive Tssd of the K.W.St.E.
The Mallet steam locomotives of the Tssd series were delivered by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen to the Royal Württemberg State Railways (K.W.St.E.) between 1898 and 1913. These powerful locomotives were used on the narrow-gauge railroads of Württemberg, which used a track gauge of 750 mm. The first of these lines to be opened by the K.W.St.E. was the narrow-gauge line from Nagold to Altensteig in 1891. Other important lines were the Bottwartalbahn, the Zabergäubahn and the Upper Swabian railroads in Schussenried and Biberach. The Tssd locomotives were known above all for their reliable operation on the winding and steep sections of track that were typical of the narrow-gauge network in Württemberg.
The Mallet design enabled high tractive power with a low axle load, which made them particularly suitable for use on the narrow-gauge, often mountainous lines. The locomotives shaped the image of narrow-gauge operation in Württemberg for many years and were in use until the 1960s. Despite the introduction of diesel locomotives in the 1960s, the end of narrow-gauge railroads in Württemberg meant that operation was discontinued on many lines. However, some locomotives such as the Tssd 47-49 were preserved and are in use today on museum railroads.
Bemo model: High-quality craftsmanship from the Metal Collection
The Bemo 1004824 model is a finished model from the exclusive Metal Collection and impresses with its fine details and high-quality workmanship. Every component of the model, from the filigree lines to the precisely reproduced spoked wheels, is manufactured with the greatest care. The locomotive is made entirely of metal, which ensures a particularly robust and durable construction. With a length over buffers (LLP) of 103.3 mm, the model fits seamlessly into H0e layouts and enables authentic use on narrow-gauge tracks.
The Mallet Tssd locomotive is known for its striking design with the two groups of engines, which was particularly suitable for winding routes due to the flexible kinematics of the design. The model perfectly captures these characteristic features and offers a prototypical representation of the original locomotive. The black paintwork and the fine imprints correspond to the typical design of Era I and emphasize the historical charm of this model.
Technical details: Powerful bell-type armature motor
The Bemo 1004824 model is driven by a bell-type armature motor, which is known for its smooth running and efficiency. This type of motor is characterized by low noise and high performance, which makes it ideal for use on narrow-gauge layouts. The precise drive enables the locomotive to run smoothly even on tight radii and steep sections of track.
The model is designed for direct current operation (DC) and cannot be converted to H0m, which makes it ideal for use on H0e narrow gauge lines. Despite its compact design, the locomotive offers impressive tractive power and is therefore perfect for operation on demanding narrow-gauge layouts.
Recommended purchase: A must for lovers of historic narrow gauge railways
The Bemo 1004824 K.W.St.E. Tssd 47-49 steam locomotive is an outstanding model for anyone who is interested in the history of narrow-gauge railroads and values the highest model-making quality. The combination of detailed craftsmanship, robust metal construction and powerful technology makes this model a real collector's item. Regardless of whether you operate an Era I layout or would like to include the locomotive as a special highlight in your collection - the Bemo Tssd 47-49 is impressive in every respect.
With its detailed design, prototypical construction and excellent running characteristics, this steam locomotive brings a piece of railroad history to your layout. Thanks to the high-quality workmanship and solid technology, the model offers both collectors and model railroaders many years of enjoyment in operation.
