Bemo 1662565 H0 electric loco "Matterhorn Story" HGe 4/4 5, MGB, Ep. VI Product Details
Introduction
The Bemo 1662565 H0 electric locomotive "Matterhorn Story" HGe 4/4 5 of the MGB, Era VI is a very special model for friends of the Swiss narrow-gauge railroads. This analogue DC locomotive is not only a technical work tool, but also a rolling cultural object: It commemorates the spectacular first ascent of the Matterhorn in July 1865 and was elaborately designed to mark the new production of the open-air play "The Matterhorn Story" in summer 2025. An ideal choice for model railroaders who value history, attention to detail and special design features.
Design & workmanship
In the original, the HGe 4/4 5 locomotive was given a special livery to advertise the theater event on the Riffelberg - the highest open-air stage in Europe. This design was implemented in the model true to the original and in razor-sharp print quality. The design is complemented by finely engraved details, neatly mounted roof components and white LED headlights depending on the direction of travel.
Technical features & special functions
The model is designed for 2-wire direct current operation (DC) and is analog. Thanks to the Next18 interface (NEM 662), digitization is possible at any time without any problems. The locomotive has reliable current consumption, smooth running and an LED light function that can be fully used in analog operation. An ideal entry-level model with future prospects for digital conversions.
Historical background
The HGe 4/4 5 was originally procured by the Brig-Visp-Zermatt Railway (BVZ) in the 1980s and is now part of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway (MGB) fleet. As one of the non-modernized machines of the 3-5 series, it was converted into an advertising locomotive for the new edition of the popular open-air play "The Matterhorn Story". The play commemorates the first ascent of the Matterhorn - an event that is regarded as the origin of Alpine tourism in Switzerland.
Compatibility & expansion options
The model is suitable for all standard H0 DC layouts with a minimum radius of 360 mm. It can be perfectly combined with Glacier Express panorama or passenger coaches as well as other MGB vehicles. The in-house coupler pocket allows smooth integration into existing train formations.
Scope of delivery
The set includes a fully assembled HGe 4/4 5 electric locomotive in the "Matterhorn Story" design, ready for analog operation, with LED light change and digital interface (Next18) for future retrofitting.
Purchase arguments & target group
The Bemo 1662565 HGe 4/4 5 is ideal for model railroaders looking for an unusual locomotive with a real background. Thanks to its analog operation and moderate equipment, it is particularly suitable for beginners and those looking to retrofit - but also for collectors who appreciate culturally designed special models.
