The model: In order to make passenger transport from Montreux to Interlaken easier and more pleasant for passengers, a direct connection was opened in December 2022 that does not require a change of trains. The main reason why a route of this type could not be used earlier is that a train starting in Montreux must be equipped with bogies that can be used on narrow-gauge meter gauge tracks. On arrival in Interlaken, however, you are on standard-gauge tracks. This means that until now you have always had to change between trains for the respective track gauge. Thanks to a gauge change in Zweisimmen, these times are now a thing of the past. After 62.43 km of the 115.34 km long journey, the bogies and the height of the car bodies are adjusted to the new conditions at slow speed. This also involves a BLS electric locomotive pushing the entire train from Zweisimmen to Interlaken and pulling it in the other direction. To make this possible, it is necessary to couple an interface wagon between the driving trailer and the electric locomotive, as this has the different couplings.

About the model: This H0 scale model from Bemo depicts this interface car in both direct current and alternating current versions. It reproduces the modern design and the appealing shapes of the original excellently. It also has a detailed interior, which is very easy to stage as it is already prepared for interior lighting. This makes it a visual highlight and adds an extra degree of realism to the train set.
