Brawa 65086 N BC4 Passenger Car, SBB, Ep. II Product Details

Brawa 65086 N BC4 Passenger Car, SBB, Era II – Authentic Model of a Historic Swiss Car

The Brawa 65086 BC4 passenger car of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) from Era II is a highly detailed replica in 1:160 scale. This model features numerous visual details that authentically reflect the car’s historical character and will enhance your N-gauge layout.

Historical Background and Prototype

Between 1855 and 1892, the Swiss private railroads—predecessors of the SBB—procured four-axle through cars based on the “American system.” When the Swiss Federal Railways were founded in 1902, approximately 300 of these cars were still in service and were taken over. In addition to third-class cars, the fleet also included mixed-class cars for second and third class as well as baggage cars. These cars were used for a variety of purposes, including as service cars and storage space. A particularly notable historical example is the BC4 with SBB number 4952, which has been restored and is on display at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.

Model Description and Technical Details

The model has a length over buffers of 92.20 mm and bears the road number 4951. It features printed window frames, precise paintwork and decals, as well as scale-accurate windows and side panels. The close-coupling mechanism complies with the NEM standard and enables realistic coupling. The wheel sets are mounted on axle boxes, and the car body is fully painted. Separately attached handrails and steps add extra detail. The interior design provides a realistic view inside the car.

For discerning model railroaders

This model is intended for model railroaders and collectors who value authentic and highly detailed replicas. Thanks to its high-quality craftsmanship and historical significance, the car is a valuable addition to any N-gauge collection and brings Swiss railway history to life.
