Brawa 65087 N Passenger Car C4, SBB, Ep. II Product Details

Brawa 65087 N C4 Passenger Car, SBB, Era II – A highly detailed model of a historic Swiss railcar

The Brawa 65087 C4 Passenger Car of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) from Era II is a true-to-prototype replica in 1:160 scale that impresses with numerous visual details. This detailed model adds an authentic representation of historic Swiss railways to your N-gauge layout.

Historical Background and Prototype

Between 1855 and 1892, the Swiss private railroads—predecessors of the SBB—procured four-axle through cars based on the so-called “American system.” At the time of the Swiss Federal Railways’ founding in 1902, approximately 300 of these cars were still in service and were taken over. In addition to third-class cars, the fleet also included mixed-class cars for second and third class as well as baggage cars. These cars served a variety of purposes, including as service cars or storage space, although some were phased out of service much more quickly than passenger cars. Particularly noteworthy is the preserved four-axle car of the American BC4 design with the SBB number 4952, which is now on display at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.

Model Description and Technical Details

The model is 92.20 mm long and bears the road number 9301. It impresses with printed window frames, precise paintwork, and detailed decals. Scale-accurate windows and side panels, as well as wheel sets with point bearings, enhance its authenticity. The fully painted car body, separately attached handrails and steps, and a close-coupling mechanism compliant with the NEM standard round out the model. An interior fit-out adds to the realism and provides a glimpse inside the car.

For discerning collectors and model railroading enthusiasts

This model is designed for model builders and collectors who value historically accurate and highly detailed replicas. The combination of high-quality craftsmanship and realistic design makes this car a special highlight in any N-scale layout and adds a piece of Swiss railway history to your collection.
