Description

Brawa 65092 N Passenger Car Bghw, DR, Era IV Product Details

Are you looking for a typical DR passenger car for your Era IV layout?

The Brawa 65092 N Bghw passenger car of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) is an exact replica of the well-known Bghw cars that operated on nearly all routes in the GDR during the 1970s and 1980s. With finely detailed Görlitz V-bogies, multi-colored interior, and pre-wired interior lighting, this model is a must-have for any realistic DR train set.

Model Information & Technical Specifications

The model is designed in 1:160 scale for N gauge and measures 116.90 mm over buffers. It is based on the 2-wire direct current (DC) system and is not digitally controlled. The interior lighting is pre-wired and can be retrofitted as needed. With NEM-compliant close-coupling mechanism, the car is perfectly suited for realistic operation on curves with a radius of 192 mm or greater.

Detailing & Appearance

The model features detailed reproductions of the “Görlitz V” bogies, scale-accurate windows with printed frames, and a multi-colored interior. The car gangway is equipped with a separately attached rubber bead. The paintwork and engravings are precise and clear—just like the prototype.

The Prototype: DR Standard Passenger Cars

Starting in 1963, the Halberstadt Rolling Stock Works (Raw) manufactured new passenger cars for the DR—initially using old components, and later as completely new builds. The Bghwe cars—including the Bghw shown here—dominated DR passenger service well into the 1990s. Numerous cars were also spotted in West Germany and reached destinations such as Hamburg, Nuremberg, or the Ruhr region. The road number 57 50 28-13 449-3 identifies this car as a typical representative of Era IV.

For realistic DR trains between 1970 and 1990

When combined with other Bghw cars, WRge dining cars, or DR locomotives, this creates a harmonious train set for your N-scale layout. The combination of visual accuracy, technical sophistication, and retrofit options makes this car particularly attractive to operational model railroading enthusiasts and collectors.
