About the model: The SBB standard car B EW II is from Era IV and shines with a detailed look consisting of an eye-catching paint scheme with the finest printing. The car was also equipped with a multi-colored painted interior and prepared for retrofitting the interior lighting. The model has a length of 154.1 mm and was produced on a scale of 1:160.
About the prototype: As the EWI proved to be an excellent model, only a few points had to be improved during the further development of the EWII. In order to be able to refloor the car floor, the EWII received new bogies with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm and a wheel running circle diameter of only 800 mm. As the window line is also correspondingly lower, the wagons are clearly recognizable in the train formation with EWI. The windows were also one-piece and retractable, but now double-glazed. While the 1st class coaches were otherwise completely the same as their EWI counterparts, the 2nd class coaches were 1 m longer due to increased seat spacing. The seats had red leatherette upholstery in the smoking compartments and green leatherette upholstery in the non-smoking compartments; the walls had an imitation wood finish. A total of 798 coaches were built from 1965 to 1976, including luggage and mail coaches, which were not available from the EWI.
