Service and Paint Scheme of the Prototype

The Class 276 locomotives were assigned to the rail depots in Barcelona, Alcázar de San Juan, and Valencia. They were also in service on trains in Zaragoza and Santander. The original green paint scheme was retained for almost the entire duration of their active service. Exceptions were units 7630, 7662, and 7666, which were converted for use on the Catalan Talgo line and temporarily received a red-and-silver paint scheme, which they later lost. Some locomotives were also slightly modernized and received the black-and-yellow color scheme that became known as “Taxi.”
