Fleischmann 714408 steam locomotive Rh 44, BBÖ, Ep.III

With the expansion of the Passau-Wels line for 20 tons axle pressure, the powerful class 44 three-cylinder locomotives could also be used in Austria from 1938. They were indispensable for the heavy, especially long block trains from West Germany to the Linz steelworks. The ore trains from Hieflau were also transported from Amstetten to Linz. After the Second World War, some locomotives remained in operation. However, they were soon decommissioned due to the costly maintenance.
