Class 44 - the "Jumbo" of the German Reichsbahn
The class 44 was the backbone of the heavy freight train service on the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Many locomotives remaining after the war were converted to oil firing in order to increase performance. The 44 0104-8 locomotive was based at Saalfeld depot and was in service under Erfurt station until the 1980s. It was nicknamed "Jumbo" due to its tractive power.
Detailed model with numerous highlights
The model impresses with its high-set DR wind deflectors, smokebox door with central locking, pumps at the front, fine printing and realistic oil firing design. The central driving axle has smaller flanges for improved running characteristics. There is a clear view between the boiler and the running gear, which shows off the technical design of the locomotive particularly well.

A factory-fitted Next18 sound decoder provides true-to-original steam sounds. The cab and engine lighting can be switched separately in digital mode. The LED headlights are dependent on the direction of travel and emphasize the authentic operating status.
