The "Plan W" passenger coaches were built at Werkspoor in Utrecht from 1966. The first series of 24 wagons was specially developed for cross-border traffic to Germany and Belgium. The remaining wagons were used for domestic traffic until 2003. Some vehicles have been preserved by museum railroads.
