Hornby TT3056TXSM TT Class A3 Steam Locomotive - 60103 Flying Scotsman Preserved, BR (Late)
Are you looking for a TT:120 steam locomotive with DCC sound that ranks among the world’s most famous railroad legends? The Hornby TT3056TXSM TT Class A3 Steam Locomotive – 60103 Flying Scotsman Preserved, BR (Late) brings the iconic “Flying Scotsman” to your layout as a sound-equipped model, combining historical significance with modern model railroad technology.
In this version, the “Flying Scotsman” is depicted in British Railways lined green with the Lion and Wheel crest on the tender. This variant is particularly well-suited for mainline special runs, museum railway themes, and high-quality TT:120 collections based on British prototypes.
Class A3 “Flying Scotsman” with DCC Sound
The LNER Class A3 model impresses with its high level of detail, die-cast undercarriage, and numerous separately applied components. These include, among other things, boiler handrails, the boiler dome, safety valves, and air deflectors.
A powerful coreless motor drives the locomotive’s driving wheels. Current is drawn via both the driving wheels and the tender wheels, ensuring reliable operation on TT:120 layouts.
Sound System with HM7000 Profile
The locomotive is already equipped with a Next18 DCC sound decoder. The sound profile is based on high-quality HM7000 sound data created from live recordings of the Flying Scotsman. This gives the model a particularly lifelike acoustic effect.
Historical Prototype of the 60103
The “Flying Scotsman” was built in 1923 at the Doncaster Works as A1 No. 1472 and was the first locomotive delivered to the newly founded LNER. In 1924, it was named after the London King’s Cross–Edinburgh Waverley express train.
Later, the locomotive became known as No. 4472, represented the LNER twice at the British Empire Exhibition, and was the first locomotive to reach a confirmed speed of 100 mph. After being converted to the A3 class in 1947 and taken out of service in 1963, it was preserved and is now part of the National Collection. Get your hands on this exceptional TT:120 model with DCC sound and add a true steam locomotive icon to your collection.
