DRG E88.2 with historical reference

The ongoing electrification of the Westbahn created a need for powerful electric freight locomotives. The electrical components of all 22 locomotives were supplied by AEG. The mechanical components of the first 15 locomotives were manufactured by the StEG Locomotive Factory, while the remaining 7 were built at the Floridsdorf Locomotive Factory.

The locomotives were used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as the E88.2. In the early 1950s, they returned to Austria and continued to be used there as Class 1280. By 1976, all locomotives had finally been taken out of service. The E88 212 is therefore an interesting model for historical electric locomotive and freight train themes.
