Märklin 39125 H0 electric locomotive 110 461-1, DB, Ep.IV, MFX+-Sound, WS Product Details
German Federal Railroad (DB) class 110 electric locomotive. Locomotive body with aerodynamic front, the so-called crease, with continuous fan belt, all-round rain gutter and end grips. Cobalt blue basic paint scheme. Road number 110 461-1. Operating condition from 1978.
The "crease" or quite prosaically the E 10.3: There is hardly a German locomotive type that shaped the heyday of the Bundesbahn from the 1960s onwards as much as the elegant and streamlined machines of the E 10.3 series. Their impressive success story began in the 1950s, when the young Bundesbahn pushed ahead with electrification and ordered large numbers of the E 10, a powerful and fast electric locomotive type. The first series (E 10.0 and E 10.1) still had a mundane, angular locomotive body, but the first units with an aerodynamic front appeared in 1962. The striking design with the "crease" in the middle soon earned the variant classified as E 10.3 the name "Bügelfalte" (crease). For decades, the E 10s were the workhorses of DB's high-quality passenger services and the "Falte" was certainly one of the stars on German rails. From 1990 onwards, the E 10s moved to regional services and performed their duties reliably there too. The last "creases" were only put into the sidings in 2013 with many millions of kilometers under their belts.
