About the prototype: The last "secret" new steam locomotive for the Deutsche Reichsbahn (GDR) was put into service on Rügen in 1966. On January 4, 1967, the locomotive was assigned to the Wittenberge depot. From this point on, the locomotive was a permanent fixture on the Prignitz narrow gauge railroads. The locomotive was taken out of service on March 6, 1973. In 1998, IG Preßnitztalbahn e. V. bought 99 4511 and rebuilt the locomotive. It went back into service on May 18, 2002.
