Prototype: Class 186 - the TRAXX F140 MS for Europe

As a further development of the TRAXX F140 AC, the class 186 was equipped with four-system technology to facilitate cross-border operation in Europe. It is used by SNCB for national and international freight and passenger services - a reliable all-rounder with a rated power of 5,600 kW.

Area of application & compatibility

The model is designed for DC tracks with a minimum radius of 358 mm. The locomotive has an NEM 652 digital interface and is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link. This means that the locomotive can be flexibly integrated into European Era VI train formations - from the KLV to long-distance trains.
