What is PIKO A-Track without roadbed?

PIKO A-Track is an H0 two-rail track system without a permanently moulded ballast roadbed. Rails and sleepers are laid on a prepared route. Sound insulation, the ballast bed, trackside paths and embankments can therefore be designed individually.

The system belongs to H0 gauge at a scale of 1:87 and has a model track gauge of 16.5 millimetres. The rails are made from nickel silver and can be used on analogue or digital two-rail layouts.

The geometry is based on a basic module measuring approximately 470 millimetres. G239 and G231 straight track combine to form this length, simplifying parallel station tracks and turnout formations.

The 940-millimetre flexible track corresponds to approximately twice the module length. It permits free radii, transition curves, flowing routes and individually cut straight sections.

In addition to the classic wooden sleeper track, flexible track and left- and right-hand turnouts with concrete sleepers are available. These can be used to represent modern main lines and station areas.
