Roco 7100043 H0 steam locomotive BR 39, DR, Ep. IV Product Details
Roco 7100043 H0 Steam locomotive class 39 1052 - DR classic of era IV with technology update
With the Roco 7100043 steam locomotive 39 1052, Roco is bringing a revised version of the legendary express train locomotive to the H0 tracks. This locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) is an update model with modern equipment, including PluX16 interface and LED headlights. As a representative of the former BR 22, later redesignated as the BR 39.10, it represents the eventful history of the DR reconstruction program in Era IV.
Technically revised and visually delicate
The model impresses with its delicate running gear on the locomotive and tender, free-standing boiler lines and a version with a T34 tender. The new LED lighting with 2 headlights and direction of travel-dependent change ensures a harmonious appearance in operation. With a length over buffers of 272 mm and two powered axles with traction tires, the model is technically reliable and visually expressive.
Reconstruction program of the DR - from rebuild to BR 39.10
From 1958, locomotives of the class 39.0-2 were converted to the class 22 as part of a large-scale reconstruction program of the DR. The aim was to improve boiler performance and operational safety. Despite new cylinders, an extended frame and revised driver's cabs, the locomotive remained inferior in heavy express train service. In 1970, only a few locomotives were still in service - including the 39 1052, based in the Saalfeld depot of the Erfurt station. The use of these locomotives finally came to an end in 1971.
Who is this model intended for?
The class 39 1052 is ideal for model railroaders who want to depict the late years of the DR steam locomotive era. Due to its historical significance as a recolocomotive and its technical update, the model is suitable both for realistic operational representations and for the display case.
