Description

Roco 72141 steam locomotive 053 129-3, DB, Ep. IV (incl. sound) Product Details

German Federal Railroad Steam Locomotive 053 129

The class 50, probably the most important DB steam locomotive of the 1950/60s with many design variants, had proven itself at that time in front of almost all types of trains on main and branch lines. After all, more than 60 significant variants ensured that hardly any 50 had a completely identical appearance to a sister locomotive. The 1'E freight locomotives built in around 3,100 units starting in 1939 were considered to be robust, powerful, easy to maintain and extremely reliable. After 1945, more than 2,000 locomotives remained with the Deutsche Bundesbahn. The locomotives reached a top speed of 80 km/h, had a power output of approx. 1,200 kW and an axle load of 15 tons. When the EDP series scheme was introduced in 1968, there were still 1,452 locomotives in DB's inventory. Since the ordinal number was only allowed to have three digits, the designations 051, 052 and 053 were introduced in addition to the class number 050.
