What is the history of the Class 810 prototype?

Production deliveries of these two-axle diesel railcars, originally designated M 152.0, began in 1975 for the Czechoslovak State Railways. They have carried the Class 810 designation since 1988. Their six-cylinder diesel engine produced 155 kW and allowed a top speed of 80 km/h.

After ČSD was split up, the vehicles remained a familiar sight on Czech Railways (ČD) branch lines. Nicknamed “bread bins” because of their shape, the railcars operated both on their own and with trailer cars.
