Description

Trix 23281 Ergänzungswagen-Set 1 zum RABe 501 Giruno, SBB, Ep. VI (inkl. Innenbel.) Product Details

About the prototype: The SBB RABe 501 is a 200 meter long 11-car articulated train of the SBB, which is produced by Stadler Rail. At SBB, the trains are also known as Giruno, which is derived from the Rhaeto-Romanic girùn for "buzzard". The new trains have been operating in Switzerland since 2019, with the first route being Zurich Airport-Basel. The range of routes is of course being steadily expanded, with trains running as far as Chiasso since the end of 2019 and as far as Milan since August 2020. At the Gotthard, the trains will replace the ICN and ETR 610 tilting trains, which are used on winding routes such as the Jura Southern Foot Line, in the long term.

As the trains are also approved in Austria, Italy and Germany, the trains will also run from Basel and Zurich to Lugano, Milan and on to Genoa, Bologna and Venice from 2022. Also in 2022, SBB exercised an option for 7 additional trains until 2026, which are to be used for cross-border services to Germany. These will run at 250 km/h on high-speed lines such as the upgraded and new Karlsruhe-Basel line. Due to the different platform heights at the stations served in the various countries, the cars of the train have entrances at a height of 550 mm (Switzerland, Italy, Austria and partly in Germany) and 760 mm (Germany), which means that they do not have a uniform floor level

About the model: Trix offers this add-on car set to expand the basic set in conjunction with the other 2 add-on sets to create an 11-car train that is true to the original. The cars are a middle car B (B11), 2nd class, with a pantograph and 1 middle car C (B10), 2nd class, and are as they were in 2022. The cars have interior lighting that only works and can be controlled digitally in combination with the basic set. The same applies to the pantograph, which is powered by the base unit via the current-carrying couplings of the entire train and can thus be raised and lowered digitally. The two center cars are permanently coupled together and have a guide mechanism in the Jakobs bogies.
